Brachy therapy
Internal radiation - radioactive grains are implanted directly into tumors.
Under local anesthetic doctors lead a tube directly into tumors, where through the passage they can insert the radioactive grains.
The operation takes place with the use of a CT scanner. The patient will be marked on the body, so doctors know exactly how the tumor is located and in what position they should adjust the tube.
When the tube is in place, the radioactive grains will be implanted.
The radioactive grains make a radiation inside the tumor and thus destroy the cancer cells.
The surgery takes 1 to 1 ½ hours.
